This tool will transform your Stationeers world to the latest Terrain system, and remove any deprecated elements
First, you need to find your save file. (See below if unsure) Then, close the FAQ and click on the "Load Save" button to upload your save file.
Once we have your save file loaded, you can click on the "Transform Save" button to start the transformation process. This will take between a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the size of your save file.
After the transformation is complete, you can Download your new Save. This will be a bundled .SAVE file, which the Stationeers [BETA] currently expects.
You can now load your new save file into Stationeers and check out your new map!
Your Stationeers save files are typically located at:
Documents/My Games/Stationeers/saves/[YourWorldName]/
world.xml or a .SAVE file in your save folder. This
is
the file you need to upload.
After downloading your world_migrated.SAVE file:
Documents/My Games/Stationeers/saves/world_migrated.SAVE into this folderSelect the world type that matches what you want your transformed world to become:
Y Offset Adjusts the vertical position of your structures. In the old system, terrain surface was around Y=0. In the new system, Y=0 is bedrock.
X & Z Offsets: Move your entire world horizontally. Use this to find a nice spot for your structures.
The Transformation often requires iteration:
With this tool, you can't! You can only move the whole Map you have built with this tool.
But B E H O L D:
You can use the StationeersStructureMover jhugard made in DotNet.
It is able to group your structures into "zones" and move them sperately. Not as pretty and easy as this tool, but it works.
If you position you base partially in the ground and then dig it out, there may be phantom terrain bits remaining within your rooms that reduce the volume of the frame affecting atmospheric simulations.
You cant see the terrain but it is there. and the best way to check is to walk around with the atmospheric tablet and look for frames that have less than 8000L capacity. If you find one, activate the mining drill in that frame and wave it around the whole frame, then check the tablet again. Repeat until it says 8000L then continue.
You will occasionally see mining animations (dirt spinning off) and gas moving as the atmosphere adjusts. If the capacity wont reach 8000 remove wall or ceiling panels and try again.
Make sure that your character is near the Base before Transformation.
Make sure that no terrain is inside any Atmospheres
Elements to Migrate: Core game systems that get transferred from old to new save. Leave defaults unless you have specific needs.
Types to Remove: Deprecated systems that may cause crashes. Gas canisters and heat exchangers are common culprits.
Prefabs to Remove: Specific items that no longer exist in the current game version.
Press F3, type exit and press enter. Then type logtoclipboard and
press enter.
This will copy the log to your clipboard. Paste it somewhere and check which item is causing the freeze.
Try saving and loading the save again. If the error persists, try selecting DynamicGasCanisterSaveData & HeatExchangerSaveData in the Types to Remove and try again.
Alternatively, press F3, type exit and press enter. Wait a few seconds for the
errors to log, then type
logtoclipboard and press enter.
This will copy the log to your clipboard. Paste it somewhere and check which item is causing the freeze.
The Space Map currently does not visually transform nicely, but functionality is not affected. This is a known issue.
You can try to press F3, type SPACEMAP regenerate and press enter. Do NOT do
this while the rocket is airborne.
This sadly does not fix the visual issue, but in most of my tries it did not break anything else, which is generally a good sign.
I will try to fix this further in the future, but I suspect a bug in the Space-Map code (Stationeers)
Yes, you absolutely now can! The tool is designed to be as flexible as possible.
It might. For Legacy saves, you may want to enable [Things] AND [AllThings] from the Advanced Options -> Elements to Migrate.
RocketWerkz surely could do it as well, but they use their time (which costs actual money) to deliver you actual features like the new Terrain System instead. I on the other hand had a few days of spare time and a will to transform my old Map, so I did it. Nothing fancy, RocketWerkz could 100% add the logic to the game (though it would need to be re-developed right in the game client by them) (or use my API rocketwerkz!)
The uploaded world is deleted almost immediately after the transformation. The download will be deleted 20 seconds after it was downloaded. No Data gets logged or stored.
If there is reasonable interest in collaborating, I will consider open sourcing it. But for now, as I am the only one maintaining it, I don't think OpenSource would help
I also want to be able to "turn it off", as I have not yet heard from RocketWerkz if they like the existence of this tool AT ALL.
Your saves are likely located in a folder like
'Documents/My Games/Stationeers/saves/MyMarsMap'. Open one and upload the
'world.xml' or 'world.SAVE' file.
With this, you can move your Structures to fit into the new Map wherever you prefer.
This requires trial and error. Transform your Map, load it, and if it looks off try adjusting these values until you get a good result. Using a GPS Tablet in-game can help.
Remember that your input is an Offset, not an absolute position.
The Advanced options should only be used if you know what you're doing. This is not just fancy wording - they are likely not required for most transformations, and can be safely ignored if you're not sure what they do. It doesn't really get cooler down here.
The server is processing your savegame. Please wait...
This may take a while depending on the size of your savegame...
